Kiehl’s x Brad Pitt

GOD….this man is just luscious! DAMN YOU ANGELINA!
Don’t you just wish that you could be a fly on their wall? Well …while I sound like a temporary head case - I would like to inform you that Mr. Pitt will be putting his “Kong-Fu” grip on the beauty world. WWD reports that Brad has teamed up with Kiehl’s in a deal that may have tons of companies following suit. Many beauty firms are eager to capitalize on the hype behind major celebrity names…with the hopes of boosting their brands. Kiehl’s will be unveiling it’s newest Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser - set to debut come this October. One hundred percent of the net profits will benefit JPF Eco Systems, a charitable foundation created by Kiehl’s & Pitt to support global environmental initiatives that “minimize impact on the environment through thoughtful design”. Kiehl’s will be adding the 6.0 oz aloe vera cleanser to their permanent lineup of skincare goods, and will retail for $16.50 a bottle - and is expected to project at least $1 million for charity. The Cleanser will be sold in Kiehl’s globally in about 500 locations, which will include Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, & of course on the Kiehl’s web site.
So where is the environment - friendly fundamentals in this entire plan? Well this is the first time Kiehl’s has created a beauty product that is 100% “Cradle To Cradle” certified which includes ingredients & packaging - and is said to help minimize our impact by biodegrading in the earth within 28 days. Plastic breaking doing in 28 days….hmmmm - it’s plastic! Come on….man! As for the contents of the aloe vera cleanser itself - it is reported to contain aloe vera, glycerin & coconut-derived cleansers, and is free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and dyes, with a food-grade, post consumer recycled bottle.
Ok…so here is a jerking question for this Tuesday! If Kiehl’s and Brad Pitt are so concerned with the environment - why didn’t they collaborate on creating a bottle that was TRULY safe for the environment? Honestly I don’t buy the biodegradable - 28 song & dance! Aren’t they aware that plastic is what is STILL killing the earth & animals? Maybe I should take the 28 day test! Purchase a bottle…and stick it in my landlords garden and see if this bottle breaks down in a month! There is no denying that I love Kiehl’s products…but damn - I smell a big marketing scheme…seriously!

I share your doubts about eco-friendliness of this product. And even if they claim, that they are not using Pitt’s face to promote it, the promotion goes under his name. What’s the difference?
