JONESRACHELROYNEWYORKMAIN-1 Jones Apparel Acquires Rachel Roy

“So many different areas of growth excite me,” Roy said. “Having a partner like Jones that is willing to support us is like getting a big brother or family member.” - Rachel Roy/WWD

It’s about damn time! That is all I have to say!

Jones Apparel Group has acquired a 50% stake in Rachel Roy. This is pretty exciting news considering Rachel Roy’s signature designs are worthy of massive attention. Roy is best known for being the wife of Damon Dash, and has started her ‘buzz-worthy’ line in 2005. Women’s Wear Daily reports that Rachel Roy will continue to design and produce the line with her current staff at her 37th street showroom. With the financial backing of Jones Apparel Group - Roy will now have the advantage of expanding her brand into additional categories such as; fragrances, footwear, accessories, home & possibly creating more affordable collection of clothing.

…Congrats to RR, cause we know Damon ain’t winnin no bread these days. Can u explain to me why Rachel Roy is lookin like she carries butter scotch and peppermints in her pocketbook in that pic of her sittin down with Damon and the partners? Lookin like Nana Roy.

This is good news, I hope she is able to give us a “plenty” version of her designs, but maybe a lower price-point than Tracy. I can only hope. I love her clothing, but I’m on a super tight budget.
