It’s All Rhetorical

July 19th, 2008 by Tee

I totally feel like I am on holiday….or something…now that I think about it! I have seriously moving in S-L-O-W motion with everything. To make matters worse I have been feeling like that for the past two weeks, hopefully my sluggishness will kill itself by this weekend. And while we indulge in the heat wave that has set itself down on the city, I’m prepping to get inked up for the 100th time around, I have somewhat an idea as to what I am going for. Yeah, I know….I’m such a bad girl…right? MMM HMM…and with that said…your girl is taking over a new leaf this weekend…by really tapping into the realm of straightforwardness….to the highest degree possible! Lately, I’ve been noticing a lot of foolish online behavior that really deserves no attention….but I am starting to wonder if people have mistaken my sweet smile & soft spoken tone for someone that is totally passive & oblivious to the nonsense…..please think again!  Yes….so while the online underground cliques keep growing…I’m proud to say that I am a loner & rebel with a cause - to bring fourth the realness without the spoon-fed /sideline frills. So check the stats on today’s ensemble:

Dress: Purchased @ Small Boutique In Soho.
Flip-Flops: Marc Jacobs
Handbag: Prada
Sunglasses: You already know….my $5 stunners!
Currently Listening To: N*E*R*D - Spazz
Mood: Alright…considering my fresh pedicure is bothering the living crap out of me, already!

Currently Loving…Like Crazy: Minnetonka Back Zipper Moccasins

July 18th, 2008 by Tee

As the 90 degree weather permits….
I am already thinking about the Fall….ahhh…I know! Wasn’t it not too long ago where I was wishing for the winter to finally depart & make way for the warmer weather? Yeah, well I am one to admit that I’ll never fully be happy with the weather unless I move to California, or Florida perhaps. Until then…I am quite sure that my complaints will be done in vain…so in the mean time can I finally share my love for a pair of booties that I purchased months ago? I can’t believe that I didn’t do this post when I first purchased these shoes, some how they’ve gotten lost in my closet - thanks in part to the numerous sneaker boxes and other containers that wreak havoc in my tiny closet. Anyway, back in May I found myself lurking around 34th street on a mission to find some comfortable shoes, simply because my feet were literally KILLING me at that prior moment in time. I can’t quite remember what shoe I had on, all I know is that I ran myself to the local Journeys shoe store looking for some instant relief. And that is when my eyes ran past a pair of Minnetonka Back Zippered booties. Now, for a moment I snubbed the idea of walking around in moccasins while the weather was going into transition, I remember that particular day the weather was quite comfortable. I thought that my feet would sweat while trooping through Manhattan like a while woman. Little did I know I stepped into a world of sheer comfort. Since then, I have been keeping watch of my next series of Minnetonka purchases for the upcoming fall.

Minnetonka Moccasins have been around since 1949, that is a long time considering it took me a hot minute to really pay attention to the brand in itself. I guess that you can say that I’ve been consumed with the sneaker realm for too long…along side the many other shoe problems that I have bestowed upon myself. I’ve made my mind up on copping two more pairs of Minnetonka moccasins…this time I’ll try adding a pair of high-top versions into the mix.

Cubannie Links

July 17th, 2008 by Tee

I’m a complete sucker for accessories….seriously! But I can’t front and act like I own a large collection of trinkets…simply because my accessories collection is consumed with only silver and gold jewelry. After a while silver & gold just doesn’t cut it in the world of fashion….it’s always good to try new things along with new brands. Now I have been hearing about this brand called Cubannie Links for some time now….and seeing as though procrastination is my down fall, I’ve decided to really take some time out to really pay attention & get focused. Only to discover that I am in love with the collection of trinkets Annie Basulto has put on the map since 2007. The collection thus far is made up of interesting pieces such as; Tupacs Gun Earrings, Leather Double Hoops, Pinar Del Rio Necklace, and “C.L.’s” famous Mantaza Color Bracelets. [More...]

Color Me Purple

July 17th, 2008 by Tee

But I got this serious ‘Jones in my bones’ this morning…while be bopping to NaS’ new album and embracing the fact that summer is really nothing to joke with, then I’m reminded of the little things. Color…the essential part of my daily life that keeps the euphoric vibes going, and this season I’ve predicted the trend of a hue that needs no introduction. Ladies, I am talking about the color purple…and no not the movie! This season Fendi is taking the effervescent shade to another level….plastering it on every handbag, shoe, belt, and any other accessory known to WOMAN. So woman…why not bask in the glory of the royal hue that brings flattery to even the most modest soul?

Pump Up The Vox…

July 16th, 2008 by Tee

You already know that T-shirts of all kinds are my daily obsession. I don’t know what it is about T-shirts that send me into another realm….where I kind of feel like super woman. I know…it sounds a bit out of wack, but the notion has always remained the same since I was a kid. And well since I am damn near pushing up daisies…I can live a little bit wilder with knowing that I am not the only one in the world who shares the same love. One of my favorite underground brands out on the market right now has to be Vox Humana. This company features a collection of cool T-shirts, Hoodies, & Tank-styled dresses that are simple…but have a very vintage like motif that carries well on any body type. Perfect for those ‘city slicker’ type casual days where your sneakers are a must…and your hobo bag is your armor. My personal favorites are the “None Like It Hot” T-shirt & dress followed by the Mr. Friendly Top which will definitely lighten up your drab day. Karmaloop features the collection online right now as well as on VoxHumanausa.com -  ladies be sure to check this brand out when you get a chance.

American Apparel: Baby Rib Pocket Frock

July 16th, 2008 by Tee

So cotton has been my closest friend this season…
Thanks in part to the extreme humidity factor that has been having my brain wired. So on Monday I found myself trekking towards a local American Apparel attempting to try on some garbs. Only to be turned off…simply because I had too much sweat running down my back & arm pits….not a good look! And would you believe people still try on clothes when they are in the midst of being temporarily hygienically challenged? Anyway, while scanning through rainbow hues of clothing…I couldn’t quite regain my focus in search of the Baby Rib Pock Frock. This cottony bundle of goodness is short and absolutely sexy….without showing too much skin! Featuring a boatneck and side pockets…I already have my converse low-tops waiting in the cut. The only downside of frock is that there should have been more color-ways on tap….either way it’s an adorable purchase that should be made.

Fabulosity By Kimora Lee Simmons - Sneak Peak

July 16th, 2008 by Tee

Back to school is right around the corner….and what better way then to torture shop for your teenage brats children none other than hitting up J.C. Penny….right? Exactly! Especially when this season J.C. Penny has new collaborations in the making with LL.Cool J, and oh yes…Kimora Lee Simmons. If you haven’t heard by now, Simmons will be debuting her new junior collection Fabulosity exclusively through J.C. Penny stores this month. The collection is more on a conservative note….unlike her ghetto-chic brand Baby Phat.

Kimora Lee tells WWD:

“The Fabulosity girl is fun, fashionable and chic, but she doesn’t want to spend her last penny on something to wear,” Simmons said. “This collection is fashionable, but also affordable. The days of spending tons on clothes are gone — I mean, I still do it, but young girls can’t.”

Did she really mean young girls…or their parents? Either way the collection features a full sportswear collection, denim jeans, blouses, coats, and dresses. The line will retail from $29 - $108. The Fabulosity line will be featured in 600 of J.C. Penny’s $1,074 stores, and will also be available via jcp.com - so be on the look out for the collection. You’ve got to admit that so far, the sneak peak seems interestingly cute…but I’ll make my final decision once I see the collection for myself. By the way….does anyone even wear Baby Phat anymore?

Purple Reign..

July 16th, 2008 by Tee

Who can resist the color?
Would you believe that the color itself is associated with royalty & nobility? And while I laugh at the notion of even being related with anything royal…I embrace the lush vibrant hues that come with this seasons “Purple Reign”. Be on the look out for your favorite luxury brands to bring fourth a collection of deep purple line of accessories - which will go great for almost any time other that in the summer. So for Chanel has the “one-up” with a touch of that “Coco Cure”…oh and please be reminded of the staggering price tag….ah hem!
